Time flies when you're busy, but stands still when you're not

I'm back, hopefully for longer this time.  The long gap between blogs had many culprits.
1) I gave up shopping for Lent (unsuccessfully) - What's a shopping blog without shopping?
2) I had 3 weddings I was in
3) I quit my job to move to California with my husband
4) But really... I'm just lazy. :-D

So what was that last part... before being lazy... yeah, we moved to San Francisco... no, not sunny California.  Currently the high in SF bay area is in the 60's and its been rainy all day.  ITS ALMOST JUNE!?!?!  Okay, I know, it could be worse but I've been on a pity kick lately.  I'll get off it soon b/c I'm even getting on my own nerves.

To better things.

What have I been doing with my time?  Well we quite literally sold all of our possessions to come out here. What didn't fit in our two cars and a few UPS boxes got sold, donated, or thrown away.  So moving into our apartment has been quite a financial burden as we have had to replace everything.

Our first and most exciting purchase was a LoveSac Sactional.  Yeah, it sounds odd, but its a rather fabulous idea.  The LoveSac Sactional is a modular piece of furniture that can be as dynamic as you want it to be.  Think about Legos that you can sit on!  Sactionals consist of "bases" and "sides".  A base is basically the seat cushion and the side is either the arm rest or back.  The parts are connected via platform feet bases and interlocking U-hooks.  You can change your Sactional from a lounger, love seat, chairs, ottomons, etc etc to fit your living space and your lifestyle. There are also interchangeable covers!  This all comes with a hefty price tag, but for us it was worth it.  We move so often and with this last move being so devastating we had to purchase something that would be easy to move in the future.

This is the set up we bought with the slip covers we picked out.

I'll try to post an actual photo of our couch once our slip covers come in.

Our next big purchase(s) came from IKEA.  Who doesn't love IKEA.  Now I know there are people out there who have money to burn and think that IKEA stuff is crap, but our money doesn't grow on trees and we have to pay our own bills.  IKEA is a wonderful place for someone who has a little bit of designer taste with a very tight wallet.  We were able to get a TV stand, coffee table, computer table queen platform bed, and other various decorative items for about $500 total.  I could have kicked myself in the butt when I realized I had a $25 coupon in the mail and that the meal we purchased during our visit could have been deducted from our bill (that would have been a savings of $45)... but grr... maybe next time.

Our mattress was purchased from American Furniture, from no other than a Vietnamese salesman.  LOL.  He was nice though.  He told us about how the recession really hit his business hard and that he just recently had to move to his new location so he could make rent.  Get this, his old rent used to be $30,000 a month... A MONTH.  We almost pooped our pants when we heard this.  It made me feel better about buying from this guy rather than a large retail chain.

I'm super excited about this dinnerware set I'm slowly buying from World Market.  I think its pricey as a set for 4 people will cost me around $90 (I am CHEAP!).  So I'm using a $10 off $30 coupon each time I go so I should be able to save $40 at the end if I play my cards right.  How cute is this.

So far I only have the salad plates and bowls.  Not sure if I'll get the cups as they're not that cute.

I just saw a great ad in Craigslist for a dinning set I want.  The whole set for $50... LOVE IT!  Hopefully things will work out!

Well that's really it for now.  Unless you want to hear about my obsession with skinny hangers from Ross.  I've been to Ross 3 days in a row to buy these dang hangers... I think I'm done now.  Plus the security guard knows my face and probably thinks I'm a crazy asian.

Oh, hopefully my next post will be photos of our new apartment.  I want to wait till its more put together.

I'm hoping that I will have many visitors from Texas this summer!  :-)  I miss all my wonderful friends, coworkers, and even the weather.  My first visitor will be Ashleigh.  LOVE HER!!!
